A coastal restoration in Lorne

A coastal restoration in Lorne

A six-week exterior revival of a weather-worn beach house above the Great Ocean Road — colour-matched, weather-proofed and brought back to life with the detail of a heritage repaint.

The brief

The brief

Years of salt air and sun had left the cladding faded and the timber trims tired. The owners wanted a finish that honoured the original character of the house while standing up to one of the harshest coastal climates in the country.

Preparation

Preparation

We stripped, sanded and sealed every timber surface by hand, repairing rot and re-priming bare patches. Good preparation is invisible in the final result — but it is the single biggest factor in how long a coastal paint job lasts.

The finish

The finish

A warm, muted palette ties the home back into its landscape, with crisp white trims for contrast. Two coats of a marine-grade exterior system mean the finish will hold its colour and protect the building for years to come.
