A coastal restoration in Lorne
A six-week exterior revival of a weather-worn beach house above the Great Ocean Road — colour-matched, weather-proofed and brought back to life with the detail of a heritage repaint.
Read case studyWeather, salt and time wear a building down. We bring tired and neglected surfaces back — timber, render, masonry and steel — with careful preparation, the right system for the material, and a finish made to last on the coast and in the city alike.
Before & after

What we restore
Hardwood decks stripped back and re-oiled, weatherboards repaired and repainted, exterior timber protected against sun and salt. A planned maintenance program keeps timber performing between restorations — inspection, cleaning, preparation and recoating before wear becomes damage.
Cracked and weathered render cut out and repaired, surfaces cleaned and stabilised, then finished in systems that suit the substrate — including breathable mineral and silicate coatings that manage moisture rather than trap it.
Rust treated at the source, not painted over. Steelwork is prepared back to sound metal, primed with protective systems and recoated to last — from balustrades and gates to heritage structures.
Most weathered surfaces can be brought back for far less than the cost of replacement, keeping original materials and character in place. We will tell you honestly when a surface is past saving — and exactly what it takes to protect it when it is not.
Our process
Every restoration starts with an honest look at what the surface needs — and whether bringing it back is the right call. From there, the work is mostly preparation.
We inspect the surface up close: what the substrate is, how far the weathering has gone, and whether restoration or replacement is the honest answer. You get a clear, visual scope before any work begins.
Old coatings stripped or sanded back, damage repaired, surfaces cleaned and stabilised. Preparation is most of a restoration done well — it is where the lasting result is made.
The right system for the material — oils for hardwoods, breathable coatings for render and masonry, protective systems for steel — applied to last, with a maintenance plan to keep it that way.
FAQ
Usually, yes. Most hardwood decks can be stripped back, repaired and re-oiled for far less than the cost of replacement. We will tell you honestly if the timber is past saving.
In most cases, considerably — and restoration keeps the original materials and character of the building in place rather than sending them to landfill.
At the source, not painted over. Steelwork is prepared back to sound metal, primed with protective systems and recoated to last.
Yes. We use breathable mineral and silicate systems suited to older solid-wall construction, and take a repair-first approach that keeps original detail in place.
It depends on exposure — sun, salt and weather wear coatings down at different rates. A planned maintenance program of inspection, cleaning and recoating catches wear before it becomes damage.

“The exterior of our beach house had been neglected for years. Surface brought it back to life — the prep work was meticulous and the colour match was perfect.”
