A hand-finished lime plaster surface

Specialty surface treatments

Beyond conventional paint, a growing part of our work is in specialist finishes — breathable limewashes, textured and polished renders, reactive metallic patinas and mineral coatings drawn from houses like Keim, Resene and Porter's Paints. Each is chosen for the substrate, the architecture and the character a space is reaching for.

A breathable limewash finish on rendered masonry

Limewash & mineral coatings

Lime and mineral systems bond into masonry and render rather than sitting on top, letting a wall breathe and manage moisture as it was built to. We work with breathable limewashes and silicate mineral paints — including Keim — for heritage masonry, new render and any substrate where trapping moisture would do more harm than a coating ever could.

Polished Venetian plaster with a soft sheen

Textured renders & polished plaster

Venetian plaster, decorative renders and trowelled finishes bring a depth and movement flat paint can't. Built up in fine layers and burnished by hand, they read differently as the light moves across them — a finish where the surface itself becomes the feature.

A reactive metallic patina with natural oxidisation

Patinas & metallic finishes

Reactive and metallic finishes are allowed to oxidise and age into a patina, no two panels ever quite the same. Applied and then encouraged to weather under control, they suit feature walls, joinery and steel where a living, evolving surface is the point.

Specialist paint systems matched to a project

Specialist paint systems

Where a project calls for something beyond the mainstream, we specify from niche houses — Resene, Keim, Porter's Paints and other specialist ranges — matching each system to the substrate, the exposure and the finish the architecture is asking for. The brand follows the requirement, never the other way around.
